Heart and Pen: A Writing Prompt Series for Parents with Cancer
Parenting is sometimes described as your heart living outside your body. Somehow, impossibly, that is only more true after a cancer diagnosis.
Elephants and Tea and Bright Spot Network are teaming up to bring you, Heart and Pen: A Writing Prompt Series for Parents with Cancer. This series will provide you with prompts to write through some of the messy, wrenching, and revelatory experiences of parenting with cancer.
This is YOURS! Nothing is expected of you. You can use these prompts how you see fit, whether it is by opening your journal to write in the middle of the night because your kid is still awake (again!) or just as something to think about, maybe with your eyes closed in the infusion chair or while you are waiting at pick-up.
No pressure, no expectations.
Here's how the Heart and Pen email series will work:
Sign-up!
After you sign-up, you’ll receive an introductory email in the next few weeks that details when and what to expect, including writing prompt topics.
Starting in July, we'll send you a series of four weekly emails that each include writing prompts related to parenting with cancer. You can respond to the prompts through writing or just as something to think about. Each email will also include relevant resources and websites that may be helpful.
Be on the lookout for an opportunity to come together with other participating parents with cancer for a community reflection on the experience.
